I welcome genuine questions, thoughtful dialogue, and respectful exchange about the subjects I write on. My work reflects my own path, research, and lived experience. It is not an attempt to claim ownership over any tradition, and it recognises that the Orisha and spirits are not the property of any single religion or community.

In the past, some correspondence from within the Santería community in the United States in particular has been hostile. Some individuals have felt the need to sent defamatory and abusive messages based on the belief that only santeros and babalawos have the right to speak about Orisha or perform divination. This is not only untrue, it is absurd. Such attitudes erase the long and diverse history and practice of Umbanda and Candomble in Brazil, and they have no place here.

Hostile and abusive messages will not be engaged with. This is a space for genuine conversation, not for personal attacks or invented orthodoxy.
